The Infinite Loop campus is only a few minutes away from Apple Park, and both locations run Apple Stores, at least until January 20 when the old campus store is set to finally close.
Apple Park opened in 2017 with the Apple Park Visitor Center, which doubles as an Apple Store. Employees migrated to the giant Ring building, but both campuses have operated in tandem along with their respective Apple Stores, until now.
According to information obtained by MacRumors, the Infinite Loop Apple Store will close on January 20. The store is situated on Apple’s previous campus, which operated as Apple headquarters from 1993 to 2017.
The Infinite Loop campus is incredibly close to Apple Park, which made the two Apple Store locations redundant. That didn’t stop Apple from capitalizing on that for a while, as each location had unique t-shirts for customers to buy.
“After many years of serving customers at our stores in the Bay Area, we plan to close our store at Infinite Loop,” an Apple spokesperson said in a statement. “All of our valued team members will have the opportunity to continue their roles with Apple. We look forward to welcoming our customers at our nearby Apple Park Visitor Center and other locations, on Apple.com, and the Apple Store app.”
As Apple fans, we’re hopeful that Apple expands its merchandise offerings at Apple Park Visitors Center to make up for losing the Infinite Loop location. WWDC isn’t too far away, and we’re going to need more Susan Kare icon shirts.
