Apple is expanding the data it provides to users who request a copy of their data, announcing new tools and data collection categories in iOS 17.4. The enhanced tools and data collection categories were mentioned briefly in a larger announcement on Thursday, signaling a significant expansion of the data that Apple will provide to users and authorized third parties.

Currently, the data Apple provides includes app usage and activity information, documents and photos in their original format, as well as contact and calendar information. Additional categories that can be requested include Apple Store and retail activity, support history, Game Center activity, iCloud bookmarks, Maps issue reporting, and other marketing information.

Apple has stated that “additional information about the API entitlement request form will be available in March” as it works to implement these changes for compliance with the European Union Digital Markets Act.
